【摘要】:Thesetestmethodsareusedtodeterminethein-placedensityofcompactedmaterialsinconstructionofearthembankments,roadfills,andstructurebackfill.Forconstructioncontrol,thesetestmethodsareoftenusedasthebasesforacceptanceofmaterialcompactedtoaspecifieddensityortoapercentageofamaximumunitweightdeterminedbyastandardlaboratorytestmethod(suchasdeterminedfromTestMethodD698orD1557),subjecttothelimitationsdiscussedin1.4.Thesetestmethodscanbeusedtodeterminethein-placedensityofnaturalsoildeposits,aggregates,soilmixtures,orothersimilarmaterial.Note18212;Notwithstandingthestatementsonprecisionandbiascontainedinthistestmethod,theprecisionofthistestmethodisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingitandthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting.UsersofthesetestmethodsarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfensurereliableresults.Reliabletestingdependsonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationofthein-placedensityandunitweightofsoilandrockusingapouringdeviceandcalibratedsandtodeterminethevolumeofatestpit.Thewordx201C;rock''''inthesetestmethodsisusedtoimplythatthematerialbeingtestedwilltypicallycontainparticleslargerthan3in.(75mm).1.2Thesetestmethodsarebestsuitedfortestpitswithavolumefrom0.03to0.17m3(1to6ft3).Ingeneral,thematerialstestedwouldhaveamaximumparticlesizeof75to125mm(3to5in.).1.2.1Thesetestmethodsmaybeusedforlargersizedexcavationsifdesirable.However,forlargersizedexcavations,TestMethodD5030ispreferred.1.2.2TestMethodD1556orD2167areusuallyusedtodeterminethevolumeoftestholessmallerthan0.03m3(1ft3).Whiletheequipmentillustratedinthesetestmethodsisusedforvolumeslessthan0.03m3(1ft3),thetestmethodsallowlargerversionsoftheequipmenttobeusedwhennecessary.1.3Twotestmethodsareprovidedasfollows:1.3.1TestMethodA8212;In-PlaceDensityandUnitWeightofTotalMaterial(Section9).1.3.2TestMethodB8212;In-PlaceDensityandUnitWeightofControlFraction(Section10).1.4SelectionofTestMethods:1.4.1TestMethodAisusedwhenthein-placeunitweightoftotalmaterialistobedetermined.TestMethodAcanalsobeusedtodeterminepercentcompactionorpercentrelativedensitywhenthemaximumparticlesizepresentinthein-placematerialbeingtesteddoesnotexceedthemaximumparticlesizeallowedinthelaboratorycompactiontest(refertoTestMethodsD698,D1557,D4253,andD4254).ForTestMethodsD698andD1557only,theunitweightdeterminedinthelaboratorycompactiontestmaybecorrectedforlargerparticlesizesinaccordancewith,andsubjecttothelimitationsofPracticeD4718.1.4.2Te......
